Richard D. Peery, 61, of Kingsville, MO, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 28 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 –11 a.m. Tuesday preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Johnson County Missouri Hospice.
Richard was born November 2, 1949 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Dean & Billie (Carter) Peery. He married Jeri D. Pearson on January 13, 1983. Richard played baseball in the Minor Leagues for the Minnesota Twins from 1969 to 1971. He was a member of the Heavy Equipment Operators Union, Local 101, and Laborers Union Locals 264 & 1290. He enjoyed and took great pride in his work. He also loved to make people laugh.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Dean Peery.
His survivors include his wife of 27 years: Jeri Peery of the home; two sons: Jared Peery of Independence, and Weston Peery & wife Amy of Lee’s Summit; his mother: Billie Peery of Independence; two brothers: Harold Peery of Independence and Howard Peery & wife Evelyn of Kansas City; two grandchildren: Katelyn Peery & J.D. Peery; two nephews: Aaron Peery & Jeffrey Hammer; and one niece: Brooke Bartholomew.
