Shirley I. Smith, 84, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 at St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs. Visitation will be from 11 am-12 pm on Monday, March 14 at Royer Funeral Home, Blue Springs, MO. The funeral will follow at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Mary’s Manor, 111 NW Mock, Blue Springs, MO 64014-2504
Shirley was born May 25, 1926 in McClelland, Iowa to Marion Z. and Dottie (Stattler) Racobs. On June 30, 1943 she was united in marriage to Bernard I. Smith.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, infant son: Bruce Smith, three brothers and three sisters.
Her survivors include her husband: Bernard I. Smith of Blue Springs; three children and spouses: Bernie C. & Wyona Smith of Blue Springs, MO, Linda & Ed Gilmore of Overland Park, Kansas, and Barry G. & Cindy Smith of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren and spouses: Betty Jo Smith-Douglas, Jody Smith, Michael & Connie Smith, Mark Smith, Jennifer & Brent Letts, Sara & Dan Shaughonessy and nine great-grandchildren.
