Douglas Edward Gower, 51, of Oak Grove, Missouri passed away Monday, September 12, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 16th at First Baptist Church of Bates City; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 15th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Contributions may be made to his children’s education fund.
Doug was born April 1, 1960, in Independence, Missouri, the son of Edward Lee and Erma Bell (Shepherd) Gower. He was a millwright at Honeywell for 19 years, and had also farmed all of his life. Doug was a member of First Baptist Church of Bates City, where he was a Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of Millwright Local Union 1529. Doug enjoyed farming, fishing, and watching his boys play sports & FFA.
Doug was preceded in death by his infant son, David Douglas Gower in 1987.
His survivors include his wife, Donna Gower of the home; three sons: Daniel, Dennis, & Dillon Gower, all of the home; his parents: Ed & Erma Gower of Oak Grove; and two sisters: Karen Woods & Twana Gower, both of Oak Grove.
