Pete Royer

F.M. “Pete” Royer is the youngest son of Kenneth & Lois Royer.   He grew up in Oak Grove and graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1968.  Pete attended college at the University of Missouri at Columbia, graduating in 1972.  He then graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science of Dallas, Texas in 1973.  After serving an apprenticeship in Kansas City, and managing a funeral home in Springfield, Colorado, Pete returned to Oak Grove in 1977 and became a partner with his father.  He has served as the Treasurer and Sexton of the Oak Grove Cemetery Association since 1980. Pete is a member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove.

Barbara Royer

Barbara grew up in Higginsville, MO and graduated from Higginsville High School in 1964.  She and Pete married on January 26, 1985.  At that time, she was a widow and the co-owner of a clothing store in Oak Grove.  Barbara obtained her Funeral Director’s license in 1988.  She has worked at the Oak Grove office for the past 20 years.  She and Pete have four children (two each), Holly McCullough, Jason Reynolds, TSgt. Benjamin Royer of the US Air Force, and Eric Royer.  Barbara is a member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove and Beta Sigma Phi -Xi Theta Beta Sorority.  Pete & Barb reside in Oak Grove.

Holly McCullough

Holly grew up in Oak Grove and graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1986.  She married Kevin McCullough on May 5, 2000.  They are the parents of four children: Joshua, Andy, Robin, and Mikayla.  The oldest son, Josh, is married (Jessica) and is serving in the US Navy.  The other three attend Oak Grove schools. Holly is the office manager and secretary at the Grain Valley facility.  She resides in rural Oak Grove.

Timothy M. Stone

Tim grew up in Marshall, MO, and graduated from Marshall High School in 1992.  He graduated from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 1999 with an A.A.S. in Mortuary Science.  Tim completed the National Board Exam in 1999 and served his apprenticeship in Marshall, MO.  He has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer since 2002.  Tim and his wife, Sarah, and son, Trevor reside in Grain Valley.

Rev. Charles Edward Bell

Ed serves as the Pre-need Counselor for Royer Funeral Home.  He is at our Blue Springs facility daily from 9am to 3pm.   Ed retired from the ministry after serving for many years as the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Grain Valley.  He is available to assist in any way possible to answer any questions you may have with regard to pre-planning a funeral.  Ed and his wife, Judy live in Blue Springs.

Director’s Assistants

Bob Richard, Tom Willis, Carl Hunt, and Charles Fultz all work as part-time assistants, helping with removals, visitations, funerals, etc.

In Loving Memory of Scott L. Hays -  1966 ~ 2008

Scott L. Hays was the son of the late Guy F. “Bucky” and Betty Hays of Slater, MO, where his father had been a funeral director & embalmer for 50 years.  Scott attended Slater Publc Schools and was active in Basketball, Football and Track.  He attended college at CMSU and State Fair in Sedalia.  He graduated from Kansas City Community College with an A.A.S. in Mortuary Science in 1997.  After serving his apprenticeship in the Kansas City area, he joined the staff of Royer Funeral Home, where he continued to serve families in the Grain Valley & Oak Grove areas for six years, until his sudden death in an automobile accident on November 2, 2008.  Scott has one son, Brody Hays, of Grain Valley, MO.  Scott made friends very easily and never met a stranger.  He loved to be of assistance to others whenever possible.  He loved his son, his family and friends, and the community he served.  He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
