Carol Jean Brendel, age 62, passed away Thursday February 16, 2017 at her home in Independence, MO. Services will be Saturday February 25, 2017 at 4 p.m. Visitation will begin at 3p.m. at the Buckner Restoration Branch church on Twyman Rd in Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Great Dane Club of Greater Kansas City.

Carol was born December 15, 1954 in Independence, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Glen and Charlotte Louise (Gross) Brendel. She graduated as class valedictorian from Fort Osage HS in 1973. After high school she went to UMKC where she graduated with honors. She was a CPA and worked for the IRS for 35 years before retiring. She loved her dogs and was a long-standing member and past president of the Great Dance Club of Greater Kansas City.

She is survived by her mother Charlotte BRendel of Buckner MO; sister JAnet Hayes of Houston TX; brothers Steve (Emma) Brendel of Buckner MO and Dale (Amber) Brendel of Stillwater OK; six nieces and nephews (Christine Queen, Monica Hayes, Adam Brendel, T’rese Anderson, Logan Hayes, and Pyper Brendel) and seven grandnieces and nephews. Also surviving are her 3 beloved dogs: Magic, Rowdy, and Pinto. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Brendel.
