Charles Edward Mason, born January 17, 1952, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family on November 30, 2020 from complications of ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrigs Disease. Born in Kansas City, MO, he was raised the oldest of five children. He worked hard for 30 years as a proud truck driver for Teamsters followed by another busy 10 years at the Grain Valley School District where he made a host of lifelong friends. He was a stranger to no one. With a heart for Christ, he could be found serving the Lord at his church. He was a servant for many years at Discovery Church and later attended Finish Line Church of the Nazarene. When he found time to rest, you might catch him watching “The Price is Right” or “Family Feud”. He also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs or the Kansas City Royals and eventually made room in his heart for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. His hobbies included camping, airplanes/flying, and spending time with his family. You could find him perched at Lake Pomme De Terre, vacationing in Branson, having lunch with his buddies at the airport or traveling to different state parks. He was an outdoorsman for sure. If you heard “It is what it is” or “It’s the nature of the beast” you might just turn and see him standing there.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ruby Mason of Chanute, KS; wives Mary Mason (Brown) of Ellington, MO; Anna Mason (Roe) of Blue Springs, MO; and Son, Robert (Billy) Reddell of Oak Grove, MO.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Mason of Beatrice, Nebraska; three daughters, Diona Kern (Brian) of Kansas City, MO, Melissa Salsman (Leamon) of Piedmont, MO, Kandis Bierman (John) of Blue Springs, MO, three sons Travis Morgan (Stephanie) of Wymore, NE, Terry Morgan (Amanda) of Beatrice, NE, Trinity Morgan (Kathryn) of Blue Springs, NE; a brother, Gary Mason (Marsha) of West Columbia, SC, three sisters Joyce Mason of Chanute, KS, Rose Fantasma (Andre) of Peculiar, MO, and Rita Penn (Norman) of Hopkinsville, KY and a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of whom he had a very soft spot for.
