
Donald Ray Johnston Jr, 59, of Independence, Missouri passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Don was born June 13, 1962 in Columbia, Missouri, the son of Donald and Charlotte (Stewart) Johnston. Don and Loretta were married on May 30, 1981. He was a Maintenance Technician for 40 years for AITX. Don was a cowboy through and through but his interest was also in driving race cars. He supported Loretta in many things, especially with dog agility and training.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Robert Johnston.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Loretta; two daughters: Karla (Matt) Simpson and Laura (Kraig) Maple; and four grandchildren: Kaytlyn Simpson, Natalee O’Bryan, Peyton Simpson, and Alexandria Maple.

9 Sep 2021I am sorry to hear about the loss of Donald Ray. Also sorry that we lost contact over the years. He, J.R., Don and Charlotte were all wonderful folks, I have thought about them a lot over the years and good thoughts and prayers will continue throughout the rest of my years. 15 Feb 2022Loretta & family, I am so sorry to hear this news and I am truly sorry for your loss. I remember Donny as a good man, one who loved his family more than anything. So sad that we all lost touch over the years, after I moved from Northeast Kansas City, to California back in 1988. I remarried and moved back to Missouri, and now live in Versailles MO.. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
