Eddy L. Scott


Eddy Lee Scott of Blue Springs, MO passed away on March 13, 2024.  He was born on December 12, 1937 in Kansas City, MO to John E. Scott and Grace M. Crawford.  He graduated high school in Clinton, MO and then enlisted into the United State Marine Corps in 1956 serving until 1959.  While in the Marine Corps, he learned to operate heavy equipment.  When Eddy returned home, he used those skills to work as a heavy equipment operator for various heavy contractors in the Kansas City metro area.  He was a member of the Local 101 Operating Engineers for 40 years.

In retirement, Eddy loved playing golf and tinkering with various projects in his basement shop, particularly metal workings. 

He is survived by his daughters, Angie (Ron) Cumberford and Leigh (Jeff) Leath; 4 grandchildren: Katie Cumberford, Jacob (Nicole) Cumberford, Jeffery Leath, Hannah Leath; 2 great-grandchildren, Lily & Emmy Cumberford; a stepdaughter, Shelly Cunningham; 2 step-grandchildren, Taylor (Alex) Cunningham and Austin (Julie) Cunningham; 4 step-great-grandchildren: Caydin Poole and Frankie Cunningham, Scarlett and Ollie Cunningham; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 30 years, Judy Scott; and 3 siblings: Crawford Scott, Raymond Scott, and Jean Vincent.

Interment will be held at The Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville at a date to be determined later.
