Emma J. Ricketts


Emma Jean Ricketts, 90, of Independence, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley, MO.

She was born October 3, 1931 in Windsor, daughter of James Failer and Olivia (Belsha) Failer. She was married to Willis Clayton Ricketts (deceased 1999) for 49 years and they raised their family in Independence, Missouri. They had two daughters, Nancy Simons and Darlene Teller. She retired from working at Sears for over 30 years. She loved traveling, camping, sewing and family gatherings. In later years, she enjoyed winter months in Casa Grande, AZ and many summer days at the Lake of the Ozarks with Clayton’s brother, Russell Ricketts.

Emma is preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Ricketts; her parents; brothers: Alfred Failer and Grover Failer; sisters: Geneva Neiman and Ruby Green.

She is survived by daughters, Nancy Simons of Buckner, MO and Darlene Teller (Jim) of Glendale, AZ, grandson Tim Simons (April) of Warsaw, MO, and great grandchildren Trenton (son Jaxton), Clayton, Zachary, Alexis, Kaylee, and brother-in-law Russell Ricketts, and many nieces and nephews. She will be forever in our hearts.

  1. I have fond memories of spending time
    At Aunt Jeans home during summer breaks
    She made sure we did some fun things during those visits that I would not otherwise have had the opportunity to experience- the zoo & Starlight theater come to mind, as well as getting to send time with my cousins.. And she always remembered me with a special gift at Christmas
