Eugene V. Storey


Eugene Victor Storey, 90, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 1st at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home in Independence.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. A graveside with Military Honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Noland Road Baptist Church 4505 S Noland Rd, Independence, MO 64055.

Eugene was born March 22, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Victor Sanford and Willie Myrtle (Tate) Storey. He was a Korean War Army Veteran and was part of the Honor Flight in 2017. Eugene volunteered for the neighborhood council and was an active member of Noland Road Baptist Church.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Delbra Borawski; one grandson: Cody Storey; two sisters, Elizabeth Underwood and Melvia Chambers; and two brothers, James Storey and Bill Storey.

His survivors include his wife of 45 years, Nancy J. Storey of the home; three sons: Michel Storey (Denise) of New Mexico, Rickey Storey (Jennifer) of Independence, and Denis Storey (Astrid) of Colorado; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Moore (Forrest) of Lone Jack, MO; brother, Curtis Storey of Sibley, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
