Gary A. Macrander


Gary A. Macrander, 81, of Bates City, Missouri passed away on January 30, 2024 at his home.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, MO.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service at Royer Funeral Home.  Contributions may be made to the University of Kansas Health System or Tree Climbers, 109 Central Avenue, Pattonsburg, MO 64670.

Gary was born on July 14, 1942, in Pattonsburg, MO, the son of Lee and Lila (Epperson) Macrander.  He attended the United Methodist Church in Pattonsburg, MO.  Gary worked at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City for 38 years.  He was a lithographer and finished his career in Creative Design.  He also served in the Missouri Army National Guard.

On August 2, 1964, Gary married Joyce Macrander at the First Baptist Church in McFall.  To this union was born Kyle Macrander and Danny Macrander.  Gary and Joyce were married for 59 years.

In addition to his full-time job, he loved farming and was an avid outdoorsman.  He and Joyce loved traveling with their 5th wheel camper.  He went hiking, hunting, and fishing with friends and family in Colorado and other places in the United States.  Gary and Joyce’s favorite excursion was their road trip to Alaska.  He also loved tinkering with old trucks and tractors.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Nina Allen, and niece Lisa Feigly.  His survivors include his wife, Joyce; two sons, Kyle Macrander (Lori) of Bates, City, MO, and Danny Macrander (Lori) of Archie, MO; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
