Grace Margaret Justus, 88, of Independence, Missouri passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2023 at Royer’s New Salem, Independence, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in New Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Missouri Palliative Care 3675 S. Noland Rd. #225 Independence, MO 64055 in honor of Raven, Wendy and staff or your local Community Service League.
Grace was born November 13, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri to Ray L. and Annie (Wilson) Shriver. Grace married Roy Justus in August of 1957. They enjoyed date nights dancing, playing cards with friends, and holidays spent with family. She enjoyed keeping busy, rather it be going to the casino, relaxing with a puzzle or reading a good book. Grace was an avid KC Chiefs fan and never missed a game. She had a giving spirit and was always willing to help anyone in need. Grace retired from the Fort Osage School District where she held several different jobs including driving a school bus to secretarial work. She spent time after retirement working at the Pioneer Ranch Restaurant. Her list of friends, acquaintances, and honorary family members is endless. She had a special bond with her roommate Roberta at Monterey Park and they looked after each other until Roberta passed shortly before Grace. She had wonderful friends that cared for her at the nursing home and looked forward to seeing her and her spunky self each day while she supervised them from her doorway. Most of all she loved her kids and grandkids tremendously. She will be missed very much.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; son, Roy (Buddy); grandchildren: Eric, Jacob, Kaleb.
Grace is survived by her 5 children: daughter Christine Sousley (Carl) of Independence, MO; son, Charles Justus of Independence, MO; daughter, Brenda Oldham (Jim) of Grain Valley, MO; daughter, Kimberly Stewart (George) of Independence, MO; daughter, Deirdre Mountjoy of Blue Springs, MO; 2 step sons: Ross Justus (Marcia) of Blue Springs, MO; Ralph Justus (Marcia) of Liberty, MO; daughter-in-law, Deenie Justus of Grain Valley, MO; brother, Charles Shriver (Earline) of Fountain Hills, AZ; sister, Barbara Caviness of Kansas City, MO; 23 grandchildren: Danelle, Michael (Kelly), Calie, Tiffany (Charley), Tyson (Amanda), Rae (Matthew), George Clayton (Shania), Hali, Moriah (Braxton), Anna, Jaren, Zoey, Breezzie, Natalya, Randy (Lacy), Richie, Jomarie, Christopher; Step grandchildren: Roger (Tina), Tamera, Chris (Brandy), Chad (Mimi), Matthew (Jackie); 31 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
