
Harvey Lee Kolster, age 92, peacefully passed away on June 21, 2023. He was born at home on August 21, 1930, in Dover, Missouri, to Paul and Louise Kolster. Harvey was married in 1954 to Rosalie, whom he met at Central Missouri State University. They shared a beautiful marriage for 68 years. He worked as a fixture designer at Hallmark Cards for 37 years where several patents that have Harvey’s name on them.
Harvey’s dream of owning a farm was realized in 1965 when they purchased land on Truman Road north of Grain Valley. He enjoyed molding the raw land into a homestead, raising cattle, and rotating crops between corn and soybeans. They hosted 4-H, family events, hayrides, and other groups there. Harvey was a willing teacher for those who wanted to learn new skills. Harvey also loved traveling, camping with family as well as the United Methodist camping group. He truly enjoyed their church, Faith United Methodist, where he was a longtime member, active in many church leadership roles including building projects and finances. Harvey always thanked God for the blessings he provided.
Left to cherish his loving memory and celebrate Harvey’s life are his brothers, Ryland and Emmette (Myrnell); his sister, Pauline Tilly (Larry); his children, Mary Nelson (Randy), Larry Kolster (Michele), Nancy Kassing (Craig), and Alan Kolster (Shona); and his grandchildren, Jennifer Newman (Durion), Daniel Nelson, Mark Nelson, Aaron Kolster, Matthew Kolster (Kate), Hailee Pavey (Michael), Wesley Kassing, Hannah Williams (Tim), Tanner Kolster, Thalia Kolster, and Cameron Kolster, along with his ten great grandchildren.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Louise Kolster, and his wife, Rosalie Kolster.
Harvey touched countless lives in his 92 years with us here on earth. May we strive to carry on his loving spirit and lasting legacy.
Please join us to celebrate Harvey’s life. Visitation will be at Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley on Sunday, June 25 from 5 – 7 PM. Celebration of Life will be at Faith United Methodist Church on Monday June 26, 2023 at 10 AM with burial following at the Blue Springs Cemetery.
