Jack L. Farrell


Jack Layton Farrell, 94, of Independence MO went to be with his Lord and Savior and reunited with his wife Marilyn on March 24, 2023. He passed away peacefully at Evergreen Nursing Home in Olathe KS.

A Celebration of life Visitation to Honor Jack will be held 2:00-4:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2023 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO.  In lieu of flowers, Donation in his honor to Wounded Warrior Project.

Jack was born December 6, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to Hubert P. & Daisy L. (Wohlgemuth) Farrell. He married Marilyn J. Wilson, April 1963 having 57 wonderful years together. 

Jack was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Farrell, his parents.  Son Gary Jean Farrell, daughter in law Barbara Ann (Barbie) Farrell and grandson David Wayne

Jack is survived by his three daughters Janice Jean Taylor of Independence, MO, DeAnna & husband Steve Walter of Colorado Springs, CO, Tina Farrell of Independence MO, and son Jerry Farrell of Independence.  12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren with a 4th one on the way.  Brother Kenneth Farrell & wife Thelma of Sedalia MO, sister Dixie and husband Rve. Jim Nail of Gladstone MO. Many, many nieces and nephews.

Jack graduated from Northeast High School Kansas City MO in 1946. He served 5 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve.  Retired from 33 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, raising Doberman pinchers in the “70”s, woodworking, gardening, riding his lawnmower, spending time at their cabin in Warsaw MO, fishing, and metal detecting. He was a family man who LOVED His Family and Friends.

 The Hardest part isn’t losing you; it’s learning to live without you.

In life nothing is guaranteed but God’s love and grace, use your time wisely and bless those around you.
