James “Jim” R. Brockmeyer

James “Jim” Ray Brockmeyer, 53, of Buckner, MO passed away December 2, 2020. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Buckner Hill Cemetery; Buckner, MO. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: https://everloved.com/life-of/james-brockmeyer/

Jim was born in 1967 and raised in the Buckner area, where he spent his childhood helping on his grandpa Unc’s farm. In 1986 Jim met Kay and fell in love. Two years later, at the age of 21, they were married. In the early years of their marriage, because of the influence and deep ties to his Grandpa Unc, he worked in the field Custom Hay Harvesting and farming in Jamesport. While living in Braymer, Jim and Kay had their first child, Kaylyn. Following the birth of their first son, Kaleb, they moved back to Buckner, the place they would all call home. Soon after, their third child Ben was born. It was during this time they joined the Church family of Harvest Baptist Church where they have served for the last three decades. At Harvest, Jim’s love for kids was founded and blossomed within the children’s church ministry. He became a deacon and faithfully served on the baptism team. Last but not least, they celebrated the birth of their fourth child, Bailey Jo in 1998. His motto, “Make yourself at home- if you don’t feel at home go home,” emphasized his open-door policy. When people entered their home, they knew they would be taken care of and loved. With that, Jim never shied away from sharing Christ any opportunity he got. This resulted in many salvations over the years. If he wasn’t being silly with his kids, he was buying random toys that he somehow convinced Kay he “had “to have. From dirt bikes, electric skateboards, inflatable bumper balls to Ford tractors-Jim found pure joy not just in having these things, but sharing them with everyone he met. You could always find him farming or tractor pulling. Let it be known, Jim was a farmer at heart, and only did construction when he had to. Jim started tractor pulling with a small group of friends in a club called Brush Pullers of Missouri. Eventually they made their way back to his hometown to create the Buckner Truck & Tractor pull with a few of his own “army tricks,” and a lot of “seeing a man, about a dog.” Their small-town tractor pull grew from 3,000 people to Kansas City’s largest tractor pull bringing people from all across the country and even Canada! Jim’s passion and personality was infectious, and his simple joy easily captivated anyone he met. Jim was a servant at heart. He gave sacrificially of himself in every aspect of his walk. He lived by faith and confidence that God would be glorified in and through his life. Isaiah 1:17 was a verse he lived by- L earn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. We have confidence that he is spending his days with the God that created him, that knows him, that loves him deeply and eternally. This is our hope, and we can’t wait for the reunion.

Jim was preceded in death by his father: Richard Paul Brockmeyer and an infant son.

Jim is survived by his wife Kay Brockmeyer of the home; children: Kaylyn Wiedmier (Rhett) of Braymer, MO, Kaleb Brockmeyer of Denver, CO, Ben Brockmeyer (June) of Grain Valley, MO, Bailey Jo Brockmeyer of Buckner, MO; mother: Darlene Brockmeyer of Enterprise, MS; brother: Ricky Brockmeyer of Buckner, MO; sisters: Coral Mardis (John) Enterprise, MS, Deanna Brockmeyer of Grain Valley, MO, Julie McKeever (Aron) of Overland Park, KS and several other extended family members.
