Janice Rae Krska, 87, of Independence, Missouri passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, Missouri; burial following at Mt. Washington, Independence, Missouri. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs, Missouri.

Janice was born on November 13, 1936 in Madison, SD daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth (Overby) Baker.  She married Arnold Krska on October 13, 1956 in Custer, SD.  Their first 4 children were born before they moved to Independence, MO in 1963 having Gary in 1964.  Janice worked for Kmart followed by Sams Club and happily retired in 2010.  She loved traveling, camping and time spent at the lake.  Janice was actively involved with her family and church and was known to be a great cook.  She was a very loving mother and grandmother. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold; son, Timothy; 2 sisters: Julene and Marjorie and brother, Gerald Baker.

Janice is survived by her 4 children: Mark Krska (Alene) of Holden, MO; Rick Krska (Carol) of Olathe, KS; Melanie Griffitt (David) of Independence, MO; Gary Krska (Carla) of Lee’s Summit, MO; 24 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
