Jerald Dean Ackerman Jr, 51, of Oak Grove, Missouri passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri.
Jay was born May 15, 1970 in Sedalia, Missouri, son of Jerald Dean Ackerman Sr. and Patty Jo (Simmons) Ackerman. He liked to tinker around the house, always had a project going. Jay, or Bennie as some called him, enjoyed cooking and smoking meats for friends and family. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with leather. When Jay laughed, he laughed big. He was his nephews’ hero. Jay was a member of the IBEW 124 for 25+ years.
He is preceded in death by his mother Patty Jo Ackerman; grandmother, Beulah Simmons; brother-in-law, Mike Erwin.
Jay is survived by his father, Jerald Ackerman Sr; brother, Scott (Christy) Ackerman; nephews: Seth and Jace Ackerman; sister, Angie Erwin; and numerous friends and extended family.
