With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jo Anne, our loving amazing daughter, sister, aunt niece, and friend on October 24, 2021. Jo passed away at the age of 53 after a short but tenacious battle with cancer. She left this world from her childhood home in Independence, Missouri surrounded by her family. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. Services will be held at Royer Funeral Home, 101 SE 15th St Pl, Oak Grove, MO 64075 on Saturday, October 30th. Visitation is from 10-11 am and the memorial service is at 11 am. A reception will be held immediately following. In lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made in Jo Anne’s name to the American Cancer Society and the KC Pet Project.
Jo was very creative, she enjoyed making her own jewelry, decorating her home, and repainting old furniture to give it a new life. She enjoyed the sun, traveling, her cats, but mostly, her friends and family.
Jo was the first member of our immediate family to get a college degree. She received an Associate’s degree in Interior Design but ultimately built a successful career in Information Technology with Wells Fargo.
Jo is survived by her father and step-mother, Gary and Diann Johnson; her grandmother, Peggy Turner; her brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Michelle Johnson; her step-sister, Teresa Herron; her nieces and nephew, Carolyn, Olivia, and Grant Johnson; many cousins and countless friends.
All who knew her loved her dearly, and will never forget her tenacity, wit, and charm. Jo almost always had a smile on her face and never had a bad photo taken of her! While we all grieve for Jo, we will try to live life the way that she did – to the fullest, no regrets.
