John E. Banks


John Edward Banks, 61, of Kingsville, Missouri passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 5, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Saturday, April 10th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. John was born January 2, 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Charles and Gracie (Bear) Banks.  He was the third of four children including older brother, Kenneth, older sister, Cheryl, and younger sister, Linda. John was part of the 1978 graduating class of Blue Springs High School.  He was an exceptional athlete and excelled at baseball.  He was recognized in the 1977-1978 volume of American High School Athlete publication for his outstanding achievement in athletic performance, sportsmanship, and extracurricular activities and was personally invited by the Cincinnati Reds organization to participate in a tryout camp. John was an insurance agent for over 35 years with Farmers Insurance.  He started his agency in Blue Springs, Missouri before re-locating to Grain Valley, Missouri.  He built many relationships through his experience as an insurance agent and was a well-liked and respected member of the community. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend to many and was always available and willing to lend a helping hand.  John loved hunting, fishing, boating, socializing, and being with his grandchildren as much as possible.  He and his wife, Sandy, relaxed at their home in Kingsville, Missouri with their three yorkies and enjoyed hosting family and friends, grilling, and watching surrounding wildlife.

He was preceded in death by his son, Evan Alexander Banks, his father, Charles (Bud) Banks, and his sister, Cheryl Lyon.

 John is survived by wife, Sandy Banks and her sons: Jake Farrell (wife Kelly, sons Lane and Connor) and Dylan Farrell (fiancé Laina Henson); son, Brandon Banks (wife Amanda, daughter Whitney, sons Jared and Justin); daughter, Elaine Lipowicz (husband Ed, daughter Allie, and stepson Brennan); mother, Gracie Banks; brother, Kenneth Banks and sister, Linda Dye.

    I am so so sorry to hear about John! My thoughts and prayers are with you all! He was such a great guy and will be so missed by so many people!
