Kelly D. Crawford


Kelly Daniel Crawford, Lawrence, Kansas, was born on a Wednesday, December 21, 1966, the son of Alice L. Angilan and Edward L. Crawford.   He graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1984.  Kelly later received a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas in 1992.   In addition to his studies, he enjoyed cycling with the Tech-Nishiki Racing Team.  Kelly continued to have interest in the sport of bicycling and his bike often became his main source of transportation in some of the cities where he worked as a Graphic Artist, i.e. Kansas City, Chicago, San Francisco and Honolulu.  During his career he received many awards for his outstanding creative graphic designs.  

Some of his greatest interests were art and music and his iconic Volkswagen Bus.  He especially enjoyed his hobby of artistic creations.  Kelly was the lead singer in a band.  He played guitar and wrote music as well.  Fishing and camping were sports that he enjoyed throughout his life.  Kelly was a member of the National Guard of the State of Kansas.  He was baptized, confirmed, and held membership in the Community of Christ Church in Independence, Missouri. 

Kelly is survived by his mother, Alice and fiancé, Jerry Powell of Grain Valley, Missouri; his father, Edward and wife, Jacqueline Crawford, of Fort Myers, Florida; a brother, Kyle D. Crawford and wife, Theresa of Longview, Texas; sister, Beth G. Angilan and husband, David Shapiro of Kansas City, Missouri; 2 stepsisters, Heather Osterhaus and husband, Ben of Bruchmuhlbach-Miseau, Germany, and Fawn Rojas, Independence, Missouri; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Natasha Crawford; and grandparents, Evah Lucile and Willie A. Peek and Helen Davidson and Harry Crawford. 

Kelly’s creative conversation, infectious smile, and laughter will be greatly missed.  He was a true individualist.  His life celebration will be held at a later date.

  1. Very sorry to hear about Kelly. I remember him a young child. I am sad that I didn’t know him as an adult. Thinking about his family. – Cousin Nancy Freeman Barnett from Florida.
