Lois “Katrina” McCullough, 62 of Independence, MO passed away January 4, 2022. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12th in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
Katrina was born January 26, 1959, in Independence, MO, to Joseph L. & Lois V. (Huntsucker) McCullough. She graduated from Ft. Osage High School in 1977 and then attended Southwest Baptist College. Katrina had a heart for children with special needs and poured much of her time and energy into helping them. This carried through into her career as a teacher’s aide for the Blue Springs School District, where she helped children for over 30 years until her retirement in 2010. Katrina knew and loved the Lord and was a member of Susquehanna Baptist Church in Independence. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, collecting dolls, and watching movies. More than anything, Katrina loved her daughter, Tyler, and treasured every minute they got to spend together. She will be remembered as a very loving, kind, and caring person.
Katrina was preceded in death by her parents, Joe & Lois McCullough; grandparents, Edwin & Lillian Huntsucker; and her sister, Karen DuBois.
Her survivors include her daughter, Tyler McCullough, of the home; her brother, Kevin McCullough (Holly) of Independence; brother-in-law, Joe DuBois of Lawson, MO; six nieces and nephews: Melissa Dieker (Craig) of Kansas City, MO, Nicole Stutzman (Jon) of Willow Springs, MO, Joshua Due, Andrew Due, Robin Burson (Tyler), and Mikayla McCullough, all of Oak Grove, MO; and thirteen great-nieces and great-nephews: Harrison, Colson, & McKinley Dieker, Hudson, Ashton, Brooklyn, Joslyn, & Aspen Stutzman, Sophie Due, August Due, and Parker, Gillian, & Ezekiel Burson.
