Lois M. Young


Lois Marie Young, 84, of Oak Grove Missouri, passed away Monday, June 5, 2023. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23rd at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24th at the Oak Grove Community of Christ Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Powell Gardens.

Lois was born January 9, 1939, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of Harold R. Hoy and June (Sevy) Hoy. She worked at the IRS in Kansas City and later at the Commercial Bank of Oak Grove. She worked part time at the Bates City Antiques where she operated a booth. Lois had many hobbies over the years including ceramic dolls, stained glass, jewelry making, oil painting, and quilting. She created Ikebana flower arrangements at the church’s world headquarters in Independence, Missouri. She clogged with her sister Elaine for many years. She was involved in the Oak Grove Historical Society and the Friends of Missouri Town.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents Harold and June; husband Elmer; daughter Diane; and brothers Harry and Larry. Her brother Duaine passed away the day after her.

Survivors include sister Elaine, brother Jerry, son Dean (Denise), grandson Devin (Deanne), and 3 great-grandchildren Logan, Luke, and Lane.

  1. My heart is broken to hear of your loss. You are no longer in pain. You are in our Lords paradise. Now you will see Elmer again. Tell him I miss him. You both were a great friend and I will miss talking and visiting with you and all our phone calls. Rest in peace my beautiful friend.
