Mabel Darlene Merritt, 73, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2023. Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri. Darlene was born August 27, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to William and Pauline (Woods) Carter. She always enjoyed reading. Darlene was a world traveler; She had an interest and an eye for fashion. Darlene also spent time shopping for herself and others. She was a Blue Star Mother, an organization that provides support for mothers who have sons and or daughters in active service in the U.S. Military.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward Merritt who passed in 2003; and two brothers.
Darlene is survived by two sons: William Merritt of Grain Valley, and Seth Merritt (Melissa) of Tacoma WA; four grandchildren: William Jr., Sarah, Rowan and Hayden; one great-grandchild, Kanin and one on the way; one brother; three sisters; Fiancé, Karl Davis of Lee’s Summit; several nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
