Family woman. Friend. Adventurer. Artist. A woman of commitment.
Linnea was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church in Grain Valley and had a strong faith that guided her throughout her life. A member of the Oak Grove Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years, she served as Worthy Matron five times while finding time to sing with Sweet Adelines and Harmony and still work for Western Auto for 28 years. She had an independent spirit and was a good friend who loved to travel, visit and help out wherever it was needed. Generous with both her time and money, she supported her church, her community and several charities and causes and was always ready for that next adventure. She loved being a grandmother and aunt and sharing her time, her dollhouses and her home with all of her grands and with her nieces who lived next door. Her needlework, shared willingly with her family, was exquisite. Linnea married husband Bill on December 24, 1945. They were blessed with 3 Children – Janice Pittman (Jack), Wayne Cogan and Jeannette Butler (John Sapp); 7 Grandchildren – Sandra (David), Katherine, Russell, Lori (Bo), Geoffrey (Jessica), John, Jr. (Michelle) and Katie. 14 Great grandchildren – Andrew (Hannah), Sydney; Jonathan, Corinne, Christian; Patrick, Elizabeth, Catherine; Allyssa (Jordan), Arian (Shane), Madison (Bryson), Christiann; Josie (Bailey) and Ashley. 8 Great great grandchildren – Wesley; Fenn, Leland; Levi, Boaz; Greyson, Emmerson; and Avery.
Linnea was preceded in death by husband Bill, son Wayne and grandson Russell.
A special thanks to the nursing and care staff at Claridge Court and to the staff of Ascend Hospice who helped Linnea and her children in her final journey.
