Mary Louise Martin, 80, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023. She was born January 3, 1943 in Carroll County Arkansas to Leon and Effie (Bradshaw) Sims.
John Edward Martin, 77, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020. He was born February 15, 1943 in Higginsville, Missouri to William Shelton and Anne F. (Mayta) Martin.
John was proud to work at Allis-Chalmers/Deutz-Allis/AGCO for over 40 years until his retirement in 2002. Mary and John were married 59 years. In their spare time, they enjoyed going to the lake to fish, gardening, and spending time with their grandkids. John, affectionately called “Poppy” by his grandkids, was known for his quick wit and funny stories. Mary was an amazing cook who always had an eye for making her house look beautiful with the decorations she collected mostly at garage sales. They both shared a love of country music and watching all the different types of birds that visited their bird feeders. They were also more than happy to spoil their grandkids, and they never let their cookie jars get empty!
Mary and John were preceded in death by their parents and a daughter, Deena Martin. They are survived by their five children: Terri, Tamara, John, and David (wife Nora) and 11 grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a remembrance of John and Mary on Friday, August 18, 2023. Visitation will be at 5:00 PM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 6:00 PM. at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri.
