Maurice June Mattos, 81, of Independence, MO passed away March 5, 2023 with her family by her side.
Visitation will be 3:00-4:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence. Funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation. At 5:00 p.m. the family will have a Celebration of Life at the VFW Hall #1000, 1002 24 Highway, Independence, MO 64050
Maurice was born May 16, 1941 n Fair Play, MO to Guss & Minnie L (Hawkins) Miller.
She enjoyed sitting on her front porch drinking her ice tea, watching the neighborhood and smoking her left-handed cigarette. Maurice use go to the Askew Inn to have a few drinks and talk to everyone. She loved to go dancing. Maurice loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, friends and her dog BG (baby girl) and her soulmate Bo.
Maurice was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Tammie Smith; son: Robert Joseph Mattos; grandchildren: Shane, Tabatha, David Lee; great-grandchild: Raina; 2 brothers: Clifford Hawkins, Freddie Hawkins; 2 sisters: Ines Smith, Betty Smith.
Maurice is survived by her 4 daughters: Betty Stewart (Terry Teel), Bobbie Blaine, Brenda Lea Hoover (Larry) Donna Marie Smith (Joey); life long soulmate: James “Bo” Kerr; 20 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; 1 sister: Sheila Miller; 1 brother: Russell Miller and many nieces and nephews.
