Nina K. Hearn


Nina Kay Hearn, 57, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO.  Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23rd at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to My Sister’s Heart, in care of Calvary Baptist Church, PO Box 77, Odessa, MO 64076.

Nina was born January 1, 1962, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of David Otto and Fontella (High) Schmidt.  She graduated from Central High School in KCK.  Nina married Frank Hearn on September 3, 1999.  She worked at Constar International, retiring after 22 years.  Since retirement, her life has revolved around family, friends, and quilting.  Nina was involved with My Sister’s Heart, the Twilight Stitchers Quilt Guild, and the Oak Grove Stitchers Club at Mid-Continent Library.  She was the featured quilter at Odessa Puddle Jumper Days 2019.  Nina was beloved in her community and attended the gym where she was part of the Silver Sneakers and attended cardio classes.

Nina was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda Marlene Shannon, brother Michael Wayne Schmidt, and brother-in-law Sam “Doc” Misasi.

Her survivors include her husband Frankie Hearn of the home; son Andy Devine (Cassondra); sister Susie Misasi; brother Lawrence Lininger; two aunts, Esther Gulley and Eleanor Fowler; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
