Nora Jane Johnson, 81, of Independence, Missouri passed away at her home on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, Missouri; burial following in New Salem Cemetery, Independence, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
She was born to George and Laura (Glandon) Scarlett on August 7, 1944 in Belle, Missouri.
Nora found great joy in life’s simple pleasures; trout fishing at Bennett Springs, Bass fishing from the pontoon boat and camping. She also enjoyed watching hummingbirds for hours. Nora loved traveling with her children, bowling with family and friends, and spending peaceful moments outdoors. She was a wonderful cook who delighted in sharing meals and memories with her family. Most of all, she cherished her time with her grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings.
Nora is survived by her loving husband, Willard Johnson; daughters: Yvonne (Chris) Webb and Renea (Gene) Stockbridge; grandchildren: Justin Johnson, Nicholas Stockbridge, Theron Stockbridge and Lara Hoskins; great grandchildren: Carrie Jeffries, Lily Hoskins, Layla Hoskins, Connor Wayman, Mason Stockbridge; Kaden Johnson, Loki Wayman, Trenten Stockbridge; and sister, Dottie Sansoucie.
