Paul Calvin Shrout, 68, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 14, 2023, with his loving wife, Cinda, and his family by his side. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, October 21st at the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove located at 400 SE 14th St, Oak Grove MO. Visitation is 12:30-2:00pm with the memorial service following at 2:00 pm. Burial Service at Mecklin Cemetery, Mecklin School Road following.
Paul was born at Lakeside Hospital in Kansas City, MO, on April 4, 1955, the youngest of 3 children, to Calvin and Mildred (Ayres) Shrout. He was a member of the Boy Scouts in Oak Grove through high school. Paul attended school in Oak Grove from K-12, graduating in 1973. After high school, he attended UMKC and UCM.
On July 16, 1977, Paul married Cinda Arnold. They had three children: Steven was born Oct 20, 1979, Luke was born Feb 12, 1982, and Emily was born Sept 14, 1988.
He farmed and bulldozed, starting his own business, Shrout Conservation Excavating. He was an electrician in home contruction, and then owned his own company, Shrout-Oxley Electrical. Later, Paul was an Agent/Business Manager at Jeff Woody American Family Insurance, the Manager of the Gun Library at Cabelas, and did special accounts at Bushnell/Vista Outdoors, retiring in 2022.
Paul and Cinda were members of the Rock of KC Church. They were previously in church as part of the worship team. Paul was on the Leadership Board at Faith in Joy Family Church in Blue Springs.
Paul is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cinda, of the home; children, Steven (Melinda) Shrout, Luke (Jess) Shrout, and Emily Shrout; sister, Sharon Pragman; sisters-in-law, Linda Arnold and Brenda Arnold; and 8 grandchildren, Glorianna, Jackson, Ella, Trenton, Annalisa, Levi, Lucy, and Harper. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Joy Long; father-in-law, J.D. Arnold; mother-in-law, JoAnn Arnold; and brother-in-law, Jay “Jaybird” Arnold.
