Ricky L. Hudnall was born on June 4, 1949 in Springfield, Illinois to Ida Marie Pointer. Rick attended Westport High School. After high school, Rick was drafted into the Army and fought in the Vietnam War where he was awarded two Bronze Star Medals. He then continued his career in the 418 Civil Affairs Unit. Rick was called to deploy to the Gulf War until 1991 before he was Honorably Discharged with 20+ years of service and Military Honors.
Following Rick’s time in the military, he also worked many years at K.C. Light Fixture and finally ended his career with Unitog, earning Employee of the Year.
Rick was a member of the American Legion in Oak Grove as well The Elks Lodge in Blue Springs, MO. He continued to honor his country by placing American flags on military gravesites on Memorial Day every year. Rick deeply loved his country, his family and his dogs. If Rick was not at the Elk’s Lodge, you could find him at his second love, his farm property. He found peace and solitude there and always kept it pristine.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Marie Pointer. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra “San” Hudnall, his daughters Kim Ohmes (Greg), Amanda Perkins (Nick), and Chris Hudnall. Grandchildren Rickie Cullen, Connor Cullen, Aubree Perkins and Cooper Perkins, and his brother Curtis Hudnall.
Rick was a true American Hero to all who knew him and will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
