Riley J. Michael


Riley James Michael, 64, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Grand Pavilion in Kansas City, MO.  Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23rd at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, MO.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Riley was born on May 4, 1956, in Yellville, Arkansas.  He worked as a welder at Western Forms and then at the Kansas City Star for 20 years.  Riley also volunteered for The Red Cross and loved helping those after a fire, setting up shelters, and feeding the homeless.  He enjoyed going to the Drive Inn, camping, and fishing.  His all-time favorite was the annual float trip, camping in the front yard of Uncle JB and Aunt Imma’s, and eating her famous biscuits and gravy.  Riley loved his family and spending time with them.  Everyone who knew him, knew of his love of life and how ornery he was.  He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Riley was preceded in death by his father, James Marian Michael; his mother, Bonnie (Terrill) Warren; sister, Vicky Brown; and three brothers, William Arthur Michael, Donald Michael, and Marian James Michael.

His survivors include three children: Christina Michael, Tina Regan (Josh Page), and Kevin Michael, all of Lathrop, MO; seven grandchildren: Brandon Regan (Sydney), James Regan, Alexis Regan, Tristan Michael, Savannah Michael, James Michael, and Patrick Michael; brand new great-grandson, Brently Regan; brother, Joseph Quincy Michael; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

  1. I remember Riley and how he was always willing to help when he was called as a Red Cross volunteer. He was always kind and helpful. He will be missed.
