Sam Dubin, Jr., 87, of Blue Springs, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
Sam was born on December 9, 1935, to Sam and Helen Dubin of Kansas City, MO. He was their only child. Sam joined the Boy Scouts of America program as a youth and earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was the first of three generations to earn the rank of Eagle. He had a son and two grandsons follow his path to the rank of Eagle Scout. As Sam’s sons became old enough to join scouting, he became a scout leader giving back to the program he loved.
Sam graduated from high school in Kansas City. Sam worked in the grocery industry until he started a career with the Postal Service. He started his postal career in Kansas City and later transferred to Blue Springs, MO., where he retired several years later. Sam was a member of the National Letters Carrier Union until his passing.
Sam was active in other youth programs with his children. When his kids were young he was a leader in the Indian Guides and Indian Princess programs with his kids. As his kids grew, he also supported them in the 4-H program.
Sam enjoyed camping and was a member of a camping club in the Missouri chapter of the National Campers and Hikers Association.
Sam met and married Terry C. Sallette on April 22, 1995, blending two families into one. Sam was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Helen Dubin. He is survived by his wife Terry of the home; his four children, Karen (Mark) Hatcher, Ray (Vickie) Dubin, Scott Dubin, and Greg (Kim) Dubin; and his four step-children, Christopher (Ashleigh) Anderson, Lisa (Joe) Heath, Danielle (Derrick) Segler, and Todd (Elizabeth) Keune; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church where Sam was a member. Time and date to be determined.
