Shirley A. Barber

Shirley Ann Barber left her loving family on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
She was born to Alexander and Gertrude Barber on April 28, 1948 in Lapeer, Michigan. Shirley had 5 siblings and 6 step siblings. Shirley lived in a group home in Pleasant Hill for more than 20 years. While living there she worked at a shelter workshop in Cass County receiving a paycheck. She loved going shopping and having her own money to spend. Shirley moved in with her sister for a time after that. Her sister and her would spend hours doing puzzles and spoiling their dogs. Once it came for Shirley to move into a nursing home her sister and family still went up to visit and to help her with puzzles and to make sure she always was smiling. We even made she to sneak her dog Princess up also. Shirley’s smile was always contagious along with her laugh! Shirley loved with all her heart! She loved her family and her dog (which we made possible before she passed). She loved sitting in front of the window doing her puzzles. She was able to do a 1,000 piece puzzle in 2 days. She was preceded in death by her father, Alexander Barber; mother, Gertrude Barber; brother Douglas Barber Sr. Shirley was survived by her sisters Anne Swoffer, Rose Mays, Ruth Carter; brother William Barber; along with several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great niece.
