Steven L. Gutierrez

Steven L. Gutierrez, 68, of Independence, MO passed away at his home November 17, 2021.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. Burial with Military Honors at New Salem Cemetery.

Steven was born June 30, 1953 in Kansas City, MO to Peter M. & Aurora (Zuniga) Gutierrez. Steven proudly served his country in the United States Army. Steven was a K.C. Chiefs fan. He was a member of St. Marks Catholic Church. Steven loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents: Peter & Aurora Gutierrez; 1 son: Matthew Gutierrez; 1 sister: Patricia Gutierrez.

Steven is survived by his wife of 43 years Resa Gutierrez; 1 son: Mark Gutierrez (Heather) of Kearney, MO; 2 grandchildren: Dexter Gutierrez, Salem Gutierrez; 2 sisters: Teresa Bohne, Esther Gutierrez; 1 brother: Daniel Gutierrez and nieces and nephews.

    Steve was a great friend and co worker. We were both amused about the fact we both graduated from kumpf elementary school. We will truly miss him and condolences to the entire Gutierrez family.

    Steven’s Family: I remember Steven as a little boy when his mom, my cousin, Aurora Zuniga-Mejia, visited my mother.
