Terry Dean Brooks, 74, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away October 15, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, MO. The family will welcome friends and family at 4 pm on Thursday, October 27th with a memorial service to follow at 5 pm. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Grain Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the family for memorial and final expenses.”
Terry was born June 10, 1948 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of James D. and Leeta (Starmer) Brooks. He married Lynn Walker on December 29, 1972 in St. Joseph, MO and raised two sons (Jaime & Donovan) in Grain Valley, MO. Terry and Lynn were married for 39 years before Lynn passed away in 2012. Terry later remarried Marilyn (McCormick) Newman on June 22, 2013 where they’ve been happily married for the last 9 years. Before retiring, Terry worked many years in management for GEHA. Terry loved many things, including: the Lord, his friends and family, his pets, boating, hunting, music, baseball, traveling, & tending to his home. He always went out of his way to connect with people and found ways to love others through acts of service which often involved sacrifice. He loved seeing a familiar face.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Lynn (Walker) Brooks; parents, James and Leeta (Starmer) Brooks; and his brother Greg Brooks.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn (McCormick) Brooks; son, Jaime Brooks of Grain Valley, MO; son Donovan (Amy) Brooks of St. Joseph, MO; step-daughter Amanda (Michael) Norman; step-son Scott (Amber) Newman; sister, Donna (Don) Bennett; sister, Linda (Clyde) Pritchett; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
