Thea Melinda (Lippoldt) Setzkorn, 57, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017. A graveside blessing will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19th in Perdee Chapel Cemetery, E. Moreland School Rd & Shippy Rd., Grain Valley, Missouri 64029. A Memorial Celebration of Thea’s life will follow in her home town at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6th at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 201 Massachusetts Ave, Kinsley, KS. Thea was born on August 8, 1959 in Kinsley, Kansas, the daughter of Emery and Christine (Katz) Lippoldt. She graduated from Kinsley High School in 1977. Thea married Laurin Setzkorn on August 22, 1981. She was a proud farm wife and homemaker. Thea loved God and her country, enjoyed reading, watching television, long motorcycle rides, and spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Her survivors include her loving husband of 35 years, Laurin Setzkorn of the home; daughter, Kendra Vartia (Thomas) of Blue Springs, MO; son, Joel Setzkorn of Grain Valley, MO; grandchildren, Wyatt and Adelle Vartia; four sisters: Karen Young of Rhinelander, WI, Sheryl Wetzel (David) of Denver, CO, Christy Froetschner (Richard) of Spearville, KS and Jama Hommertzheim (Ron) of Pratt, KS; and a large extended family of loving nieces, nephews, and countless other relatives and friends.
The family asks that you spend time with your children, tell silly stories and jokes; Remember the good times and make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond. That is what Thea would wish for you.
