Velma Nadine Morgan, 86, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 9, 2024, at her home in Oak Grove, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18th at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery Association, the Oak Grove Historical Society, or to First Baptist Church of Oak Grove.
Nadine was born September 24, 1937, in Roscoe, Missouri, the daughter of Lester and Freda (Parker) Culbertson. She graduated from Grain Valley High School in 1955 and started her teaching career at Oak Grove in 1957. She taught elementary and remedial reading for 37 years before retiring to become a grandma. During this time, she was the Reading is Fundamental (R.I.F.) coordinator giving each student books to take home. She then continued her teaching career as a substitute in Oak Grove Middle School until 2020, teaching around 63 years total. She was currently a member of the L.O.V.E (Lone Jack, Oak Grove, Grain Valley) Retired Teacher’s Association. Teaching was her passion!
Nadine was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove. She served as wedding coordinator for 25 years and was the church historian. She was a member of the Garden Club, Historical Society, and enjoyed playing bridge regularly
Nadine loved to travel and visited all 50 states and 18 foreign countries worldwide. She was an avid sports enthusiast. Nadine loved her Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, and Mizzou Tigers. You could always find her watching sports or enjoying the scenery from her patio. She was a quilter, gardener, baker, babysitter, and BEST mom and grandma EVER!!
Nadine leaves behind three children: Mike Morgan, Teresa Godemann (Rod), and Kevin Morgan (Michelle), all of Oak Grove; five grandchildren: Morgan (Michael), Taylor (Wyatt), Kaitlyn, Madelynn, and Melissa (David); two great-grandchildren, Miles and Lukas; her sister, Elaine Brown (Jack) of Odessa, MO; sister-in-law, Cece Morgan of Independence, MO; and her beloved dog, Jewell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Allen Morgan; brother-in-law, Jim Morgan; and niece, Cheryl Brown.
