Wilbert M. Travis Jr.


Wilbert “Buzz” Morgan Travis Jr., 66, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed on after a 3.5-year battle with cancer. He was called home to Heaven on Monday, April 10, 2023. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 14 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri. Buzz was born September 13, 1956 in Independence, Missouri to Wilbert M. and Marcene M. (Moretina) Travis. Post high school, he followed his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps in the fire sprinkler system business. Buzz retired as a superintendent from National Fire Suppression in 2011, and was a member of Local Union 314. He was also a ten-year member of The Blue Springs Elks Lodge #2509. He enjoyed music and being outdoors. Buzz loved to hunt, fish, go 4-wheeling, camp and hang around the fire pit with friends and family. He enjoyed watching Sprint Car and Nascar races and was an avid Chief’s fan. Buzz loved a good party and enjoyed hosting Halloween, Daytona 500, July 4th, Superbowl or on any given Friday night.  He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Buzz was a wonderful friend to many and a fantastic mentor to several. He brought numerous people together over the years. Buzz touched the lives and hearts of everyone he met and will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Bus and Marcene Travis; brother, Frank Travis; son, Alec Engle; nieces: Krickett McLelland and Kaci Kobel.

Buzz is survived by his wife of 21 years, Stacey Travis; 4 daughters: Tiffani Janssen and husband Matt, Keena Mackie, Courtney Pointer, and Alyse Engle; grandchildren: Haley Winters; Brayden, Taryn, and Teagan Janssen; Mila Blevins; great-grandchildren: Hayden, Tucker and Cole Winters; sister, Mary Wilcox and husband Jim; brother, John Travis and wife Christine; sister-in-law, Kathy Travis; and several nieces and nephews.
