It is with deep sorrow and profound gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Hannah Edith Laffoon on February 28, 2025 at Legacy in Louisville, Kentucky, where she has resided for the last half year. She was a beloved wife and mother, devoted missionary, and faithful servant of God.
Born on June 30, 1930, Hannah dedicated her life to serving others, answering the call to mission work in Tanzania, Africa, where she and her husband, Bob, with their four little boys served for 8 years. Besides home-schooling her four energetic boys, Hannah worked as an OR nurse in the hospital where Bob worked. After they relocated to Lawton, Oklahoma, in 1979, she continued her work as a dermatology nurse.
Through the years she has been faithful to the Church, teaching a ladies’ Sunday School Class and ministering to their needs. Through her ministry and work, she has touched countless lives, spreading the message of hope and kindness.
Above all, she was a loving mother to her four sons–Tim, Tony, Eric, and Glen–and their families who were the joy of her life. She instilled in them the values of faith, perseverance, and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years who passed away in 2012, six of her siblings, and is survived by her sister Nancy, sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends and fellow believers.
A celebration of her life was held on March 6, 2025 at Hurstbourne Baptist Church. Interment will follow on Monday, March 10, at Sni Mills Cemetery in Oak Grove, Missouri, where she grew up. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Lottie Moon Offering (International Mission Board), continuing her life’s work of spreading love and faith.
Her legacy of faith and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
