William J. Shinn


William Jeremiah Shinn, 84, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22nd in Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence.

William was born June 20, 1937, in Murray, Iowa, the son of Royal Clyde and Anna Gertrude (Patterson) Shinn.  He married Margo S. Hutchinson on February 11, 1961.  William was a machine operator for St. Regis Paper Co. for 40 years until he was nearly 70.  He was a devoted employee and never missed a day of work.  William loved growing a garden and enjoyed geology, classical music, and going to Starlight musicals.  He was also an avid fan of the K.C. Royals and the Chiefs.

William was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Bryan Shinn; and several siblings.  His survivors include his wife, Margo Shinn, of the home; three daughters: Allison Shinn, Sherril Shinn, and Jeri Ann Mullendore, all of Independence; four grandsons: Bryan Easley (Victoria) of Blue Springs, MO, Adam Easley of Independence, Hunter Mullendore of Independence, and William Mullendore of Independence; three great-grandchildren: Dylan, Jakob, and McKenzie of Blue Springs; brother, Gene Shinn (Minnie) of Blue Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
