Phyllis Jean (Fetters) Liggett, 75, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at University Health-Lakewood Care Center, Kansas City, MO. A memorial service will be held for Phyllis on Monday, September 5, 2022 at 2PM at the Church of Christ, 314 N.E. RD Mize Road, Blue Springs, MO with refreshments in the basement following the service. A private burial will be held at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock, AR. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, or Church of Christ. Prior to the care center, she had lived in Odessa, MO. On June 26, 1947, Phyllis was born at Monroe Hospital, Unionville, MO to Keith and Esther (Boswell) Fetters. Phyllis graduated from Central Decatur Community High School, Leon, Iowa in 1965. Following high school, she attended business school in Kansas City, MO. In later years, she also took some college courses at Oklahoma Christian College, Oklahoma City, OK. On November 19, 1966, she was united in marriage to Phillip Alan Liggett. Phyllis and Phillip lived in many different states during their marriage due to Phillip’s enlistment in the U.S. Navy and different jobs. Phyllis held several different positions in her lifetime, including jobs as a nanny, church secretary, and greeter at Walmart. She was an avid reader. Phyllis enjoyed her job as a church secretary, because they gave her time at work to read and study her Bible. She was a long-time member of the Church of Christ and at the time of her death she was a member of the Church of Christ on R.D. Mize Road in Blue Springs, MO. Phyllis dearly loved her family, including her brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and their families.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Liggett; mother, Esther Fetters; father, Keith Fetters; brother, Phillip Fetters; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Martin.
She is survived by her brothers, Leroy (Michael) Fetters of Tucker, GA; David (Marla) Fetters of Oak Grove, MO; sister-in-law, Patricia Martin of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Ruth Fetters of Platte City, MO; aunt, Billie (Max) John of Cedar Rapids, IA; aunt, Barb Fetters of Centerville, IA; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
