Jerry J. Herington

Jerry Joseph Herington, age 59, of Kingsville, MO, passed away December 6, 2022 at his home surrounded by family.  A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12th at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, MO.

Jerry was born on June the 4th of 1963 to James and Barbara Herington. He graduated in 1981 from Oak Grove High School in Oak Grove, MO. Jerry met the love of his life, Tina Galvin in 1983. The two were wed on July 2, 1988. They were together for 38 years and the couple raised 3 children, Natasha VanGordon, Noah Herington, and Josh Galvin on their farm in Kingsville, MO. Jerry spent part of his life farming and raising cattle. He enjoyed hunting and got the buck of his life, a 28-point buck, on his parent’s farm in Hale, MO. He also enjoyed boating and water skiing with his family at the lake of the Ozarks and Table Rock Lake. He spent the rest of his free time fixing cars and helping those if he could, whether it was talking to them about car troubles or giving his honest advice/or opinion. He truly loved being a mechanic and loved his family even more. Jerry was a very devoted father, husband, and teacher. He always taught us to stand tall, be proud, and know ourselves, in all situations and supported us all throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties of our lives. Being a grandpa was a very important job to him. He always made sure they got everything they wanted or needed for birthdays, and “Christmases”. He was so proud of each of them in their achievements in school, and in daycare. And if you asked him, he would tell you.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, James Herington, and brother, Jason Gronek. Surviving his passing are his wife, Tina Herrington; son, Noah Herington of Kingsville, MO; daughter, Natasha VanGordon and son-in-law Cory VanGordon and grandchildren, Aidan and Anastasia of Warrensburg, MO; nephew, Joshua and Danielle Galvin of Blue Springs, MO and their three children, Erin, Ryan, and Ian; daughter, Tracy Kava and grandchildren, Olivia and Jonah; his mother, Barbara Gronek and stepfather, Walter Gronek of Oak Grove, MO; sister, Jami Herington of Independence, MO; brother, John Herington and sister-in-law, Tracy Herington of Blue Springs, MO.
