Nellie Ruth (Graham) Wheaton, born November 18, 1931, to Samuel “Sammy” Easter and Ruth Deloris (Coleman) Graham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the age of 91½ years. Graveside services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21st in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice House.
Nellie was born in Grain Valley, MO, and she and her family lived there until moving to Oak Grove, MO, when Nellie was in fifth grade. She married Kay Dee Wheaton on August 16, 1951, in her parent’s home. They were married for 68 years prior to his passing on March 14, 2020. Nellie was a homemaker her whole life. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, canning, working outside in her flower beds, and mowing on her riding mower she named “Alice”.
Her survivors include her daughter, Dianna Kaye (Wheaton) Robinson; two granddaughters: Amber Kay (Robinson) Hayes and her husband Charles, and Kelley Diane Blanche Robinson; and one great-grandson, Malcolm Reynolds Hayes. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kay; her son-in-law, Larry Robinson; her only sibling, sister Frankie (Graham) Halsey; and many others she has lost over the years.
