It is with great sorrow that we bid farewell to our beloved Melvin Hart, who left this world on July 9th, 2023, leaving behind a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved them. Melvin possessed an unwavering spirit and a genuine passion for life. His remarkable kindness and compassion touched the lives of friends, family, and even strangers. Born on New Year’s Eve 1948, he brought joy, mischief, and a healthy dose of humor to every room he entered. Beyond his penchant for humor, Melvin was a loving spouse, a nurturing parent, a loyal friend, brother and son. He was always ready to lend a listening ear or offer words of encouragement. He was an optimist and a futurist with an engineering mindset. Melvin believed that sometimes, objects and events don’t need deep interpretations. In his e-mail signature he always kept Sigmund Freud’s quote: “Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar.” We will honor his memory by embracing the humor in life and cherishing the gift of laughter.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Laura Hart; daughter, Ariel Hart; sisters, Rhonda Hart, Phoebe Hart and Paula Hart; cousin, Avis Shelby; sister and brother in-law, Penny and Max Reser; niece, Karen R. Beem (James Hulet); nephew, Gregory Turner, and many members of the Warner and Jeffries families that loved him.
As we bid farewell to our dear Melvin, let us remember the countless times he made us smile, giggle, and even snort with laughter. Though he will be greatly missed, the memories of humor will forever bring a smile to our faces.
Visitation will be 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2023 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. Graveside service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Six Mile Cemetery.
