Todd D. Mitchell

Todd Douglas Mitchell, 60, of Grain Valley, MO., went to heaven on October 19, 2023. He was born May 26, 1963 in Kansas City to Thomas and Carol (Babcock) Mitchell. He graduated from Hickman Mills High School and joined the Union as a painter.

Todd met Toni Jo Monteleone and they were married in 1989. They had two children together, Tara Ann and Michael Anthony. Todd spent most of his life vacationing and living at the Lake of the Ozarks. He enjoyed fishing, taking his kids tubing, hauling ass in his boat or jet ski, and slalom skiing (which he was particularly talented at). He loved the lake and all the fun times he had there with family and friends. Todd also loved anything that was fast and loud, rock music, and most of all, The Kansas City Chiefs. He spent many years as a season ticket holder but no experience could match when he and his son Michael bought tickets to see the Chiefs play in Super Bowl LIV in Miami, Florida. They drove down and got to experience once in a lifetime memories together. Making memories with his kids and grandkids was something Todd cherished greatly.

Left behind to miss him are his children; Tara (Luke) Rios, Michael (Mikayla) Mitchell. His most beloved grandchildren; Allison, Zane and Andrew. His sisters; Jill Mitchell and Karen (Jimmie) Rubio. His uncles (who are more like brothers); Rich Babcock and Larry Babcock. His beloved kitty; Gabby (whom he affectionately called Princess) And many friends who became family.

He is now reunited in heaven with his parents; Tom and Carol Mitchell, both sets of grandparents; and a few good friends that he lost years ago. We will miss him for the rest of our lives.

We will celebrate Todd’s life the best way we know how. Cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs with an ice cold drink and good company. Join us at Side Pockets in Blue Springs Sunday, October 29th at 3pm – 6:30pm. Chiefs attire required – the only other suitable option is your favorite band t-shirt. Everyone is welcome. The family wishes to thank the medical oncology team at the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Center for their dedicated care and compassion, as well as the fantastic staff at Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care.

  1. Dad, I will love and miss you forever. Thank you for allowing me to care for you these last 11 months. Thank you for fighting. You’re the strongest and toughest guy I know. I’ll miss you so much but I find comfort knowing that you are happy and healthy in heaven – somewhere where cancer doesn’t exist. I know you’ll be with me always. I love you forever.
