Gretchen Irene Ison, 75, Buckner Missouri peacefully passed away Thursday November 16, 2023, at her home.
Gretchen was born on August 4, 1948, to Adam and Mary Woolf and lived in Independence Missouri with her sister Theresa and brother Steven.
She graduated from Van Horn high school and Central Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She spent most of her life as a caring wife and loving mother, being involved in all 3 children’s lives and activities. Later she founded The Gazette Weekly newspaper where she was owner and publisher. Gretchen also wanted to share her love of flowers by opening Village Florals in Buckner Missouri.
Gretchen was an avid doll collector and loved animals. She would help rescue them in our area where she also had her pet jersey cows whom she milked mornings and evenings for 5 years.
She is survived by husband Chuck Ison of 53 years. Three children, Matthew Ison, Kansas City Missouri: Scott Ison and wife Jackie, Buckner Missouri: Jennifer Ison, Buckner Missouri and two grandsons, Radken and Bradyn Ison, Buckner Missouri along with her 6 fur babies.
Services will be private. Memorials to a charity of your choice.
