Helen L Newlin, born September 7, 1936, Kansas City MO passed from this life on November 26, 2023, Independence MO at the age of 87.  Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church Blue Springs, MO.  Donations can be made to the Dementia Society of America www.DementiaSociety.org/donate or Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Ed, and by her sisters Ruth and Virginia. 

Helen Wells graduated from Center High School in 1954 and worked for Emery, Bird, Thayer (EBT) before marrying her high school sweetheart, Edward Newlin on May 26, 1957.  Helen devoted her life to volunteering.  She served as Treasurer and President of the Auxiliary for St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, and on the Board of Directors for Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra.  Helen was awarded the Imelda Farmer Friendship award in 2010 for her exemplary volunteer service to St. Mary’s Hospital.  She also volunteered with the Blue Springs Art League and as an adult reading tutor with the Houston READ Commission.  Helen enjoyed flower gardening, entertaining, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and a long-time member of Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church.

Helen is survived by her two children, Karl (Shannon) and Linda, her two grandchildren, Perry and Amelia, and two nieces, Carolyn (Ed) and Jan (Larry).
