Hazel D. Gulick, 99, of Lone Jack, Missouri, passed away on December 14, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ, Colbern Road Restoration Branch, 9525 Lake Lotawana Road, Gate 2, Lee’s Summit, MO 64086.
Hazel was born July 12, 1924, in Standish, Michigan, daughter of Toras Sr. and Beatrice (Jardo) Fisk. She was the fifth of ten children. She married Glen Gulick on November 9, 1946 and to this union two children were born: Gary and Darla.
Hazel played four years of undefeated basketball for Sterling High School where she played for a coach who was later inducted into the Michigan Hall of Fame.
She was also a live-in caregiver for her grandmother during her high school years.
Hazel and her family ran a dairy farm in Alma, Michigan before moving to Tucson, Arizona in 1972 where she was the cook and later manager of an elementary school.
After the death of her husband, Hazel moved to Lone Jack, Missouri in 1997.
Family and serving the Lord filled her days with joy. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Colbern Road Restoration Branch. In her later years she enjoyed visiting nursing homes and volunteering many years at Lunch Partners in Independence, Missouri helping provide lunches for homeless and low-income people.
Hazel is survived by her son Gary (Suzie) Gulick and daughter Darla Hagen; grandchildren Tammy (Scott) Myers, Kip Hagen, Kristy (Ricky) Randolph, and Kolby (Nicole) Hagen; great grandchildren Kaitlyn Myers, Andrew Hagen, Kayla (Aaron) Dodds, Kimber (CJ) Elder, Austin Willoughby, Zachary Myers, Xander Hagen, Sophia and Emma Randolph, Kassy and Kole Hagen, Elijah Randolph and four great great grandchildren. Also survived by brothers Murel and Hubert Fisk.
She was preceded in death by husband, Glen Gulick, parents Toras Sr and Beatrice Fisk, grandchildren Darick and Ryan Gulick, great grandchild Sidney Myers; brothers Weldon, Chester, Toras Jr., and Louis Fisk, and sisters Helen Yenior, Mabel Corn, and Inez Brooks.
