Wilma Jean Rash, age 82, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri. Funeral service is to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. Contributions can be made to Odessa Hills Campground at: 6505 Odessa Hills Rd. Wilma was born August 29, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph Ivan and Vera June (Thatch) Clark. As a child Wilma grew up poor but happy with loving parents. Together they moved many times so her dad could find work. She changed schools at least fourteen times before graduating high school in Independence. Her only sibling, Janie, is eight years younger and was in tow for much of it. From childhood, Wilma’s life was built on her faith in God and scripture. She was deeply connected to church and quite active. Wilma married her sweetheart, Howard, at eighteen. Together they build four houses and established a family home in Grain Valley. With their young family they traveled throughout Missouri camping and attending various bluegrass music events. Many meaningful life friendships were made during this time. Wilma’s lived a full life. She was gifted. She enjoyed sewing clothes and home goods. She also loved crocheting and quilting. She gardened, entertained and was an amazing cook. She worked full time while raising their family. By trade, she was a bookkeeper but also drove a school bus to be close to her family. She retired with Howard to Warsaw for thirteen years then returned to Grain Valley to spend more time with family. She was a loving devoted spouse and a caring mother. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Wilma is survived by her husband, William “Howard” Rash of the home; 2 daughters: Sherri Webb (Doug) of Independence, MO and Cindy Hays (Scott) of Grain Valley, MO; 3 grandchildren: Blake Webb, Brice Webb and Rachel Hays; sister, Janie Clark-Wendleton (Gary) of Independence, MO; 2 nieces and a nephew; and many friends.
