Helen J. Sage

Helen Jeannette (Holly) Jamieson Sage passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2024. Holly was born on Sept 5, 1941, in Omaha, NE to John Gregory Jamieson and Helen Irene Johnson Jamieson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Bill Jamieson and Tom Jamieson, her sister Mary, son-in-law Darren Wilson, and daughter-in-law Stevie Delehant.

She leaves behind her husband of 42 years, Cliff Sage; children Richard Delehant (Kathy), Patty Clark (Darryl), Peggy Rohleder, Cyndi Wilson, Jean Ruckdeschell (Kevin), and Bob Delehant; stepchildren Tammy Sage (Brian), and Mark Sage (Renee); her brother John Jamieson, and sister Kate Koestner (John); 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and a multitude of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Holly spent her early years in Omaha, NE where she graduated from Cathedral High School in 1959. In 1967 she moved to Denver, CO, then relocated to Independence, MO in 1970 where she raised her own family. She and Cliff settled in Buckner, MO in 1993 and have resided there since. She worked at Allis Chalmers for 11 years as the Welding and Paint Dept. Clerk and could recall employee badge numbers into her eighties. She finished her working career as the Rehab Office Coordinator at MCI Hospital, where she retired after 23 years.

Everyone that was fortunate enough to know Holly knew of her quiet strength, exemplary work ethic, and caring nature. She was also known for her sharp intellect, wicked sense of humor, excellent – and often inventive – cooking, beautiful needlepoint and crochet, and her voracious love of reading. Despite her own attributes and talents, she took the greatest joy and was the proudest of her family.

Holly was loved and respected by all that knew her throughout her life. She had a way of making everyone know how very important they were to her and welcomed more than one stray dog or cat – and several humans – into her home as “family”. She made sure everyone she encountered felt included, special, and valued. To her kids she was everything: teacher, protector, advocate, ally, confidant and friend – Mom…

She created deep and unique bonds with each of her children individually and together as a team. Her mantra “six kids in seven years” will have an everlasting place in the hearts of each. She will forever be the consummate matriarch in many people’s memories.

Obituary submitted by the family.
